资源简介:
The purpose of an admission register was to record basic details about children admitted to the school, and about their parents or guardians. The registers were also used to record the progress of the children through various classes and the date of their leaving the school. The surviving records in this series contains enrolments from November, 1939 until the closure of the school in 1950. This volume contains information pertaining to each pupil including: date of admission; pupil's name, date of birth and religious denomination; name of previous school and date of leaving. The following details are recorded about the child's parents or guardians: name, residence and occupation. The pupil's date of admission to each subsequent grade, if applicable, and date of leaving the school are also recorded. The volume, as printed, also makes provision to record any occupation entered into on leaving school, but as this scarcely applies in the present case this column has been used to record pupils’ destinations on release from hospital.Girls and boys are listed on opposite pages in order of admission, and numbered in separate sequences. From the beginning of 1944 the numbering begins anew. The pages of the first opening, containing boys’ entries nos. 1-11 and girls’ entries nos. 1-9, have been glued together at top and bottom, but may still be read by separating the outer edges.Following the closure of the school at Royal Newcastle Hospital, this register was taken to the Waratah Orthopaedic Hospital School, and was kept amongst that school’s records until transfer to State Archives.
