Insect populations in pan trap sampling

The following experiement included my four lab group members, Khaula Sahi, Alexandra Nushis and Kathy Chan. Data collection took place at York University Campus in either a grassland or woodlot region. The experiment began at approximately 3:20pm, when we had placed our different colored bowls in parts of the grassland and woodlot areas. Bowls were placed either in the open, beside a log or under a tree, in groups of three, all different colors. A one hour wait time was decided on, ending the experiment at 4:20pm and begining observations. To add, it began raining approximately 20 minutes into wait time. Different rtu's (recognizable taxonomic units) were observed in each bowl and recorded. The purpose of this experiment was to become familiar with data collection and sampling techniques.
