How to Utilize Knowledge Networks Effectively

This thesis proposes a methodology for utilizing knowledge networks in an organization effectively. The recipient of the information in this thesis should be in a position to begin conceptualizing an operative scenario for knowledge networking. Specifically, the goal of this thesis is to provide an eclectic but solid foundation of information relating to the effective utilization of knowledge networks. Furthermore, the groundwork of this methodology will enable continuing research to be pursued in more specific aspects of knowledge networking. A look at the knowledge management literature covering the subject of knowledge networks gives the impression that there is some evidence of a lack of standardization and norms in the usage of paradigms. This thesis will attempt to draw together and clarify the most relevant knowledge network paradigms in order to simplify the process of orientation towards the most fitting knowledge network model. Regarding the terminology used in the context of knowledge networks, this thesis will attempt to classify and define related terms as formally as possible, with the hope of easing navigation through the subject of knowledge networking. This thesis is technology neutral. References will be made to technology in a generalized manner. This paper is written for an audience which is acquainted with the concepts involved in knowledge management, but not necessarily having fundamental academic background in this subject. The target Audience of this document, ideally, would be those who are interested in discovering the possibilities of utilizing knowledge networks for a given organization, in order to enhance the performance of meeting a given business goal.
