A near-infrared dataset of the effects of font emphasis on emotional word processing in older and younger adults

This dataset was collected in the near-infrared laboratory from November 2022 to December 2022, and changes in cerebral blood oxygen were recorded in continuous wave mode using the LIGHT NIRS portable functional near-infrared brain imaging instrument (FOIRE 3000, Shimadzu Corporation, Kyoto, Japan). The sampling rate is 13Hz. The frontal lobe serves as an observational brain area. The experimental materials were presented in font size 40 on a 14 inch, 1920 x 1080 resolution display. The background of the monitor is white, and the subjects sit about 40 cm away from the monitor from their eyes. The dataset includes the original files of experimental materials, the ability test results of 48 participants, the evaluation results of three pre-tests (emotional, fluency, and predictability) of materials, the near-infrared experimental program, and the near-infrared raw data of 47 participants (one female elderly participant had significant head movements during the experiment and the data was not included in the analysis).
