Social media-based monitoring data for wind disasters in Hainan

Typhoon is one of the major natural disasters threatening human survival and development, which brings great losses to the affected areas every year. This data set is based on Hainan, which is heavily affected by typhoons. Fourteen typhoons that have severely affected Hainan Province in the past eight years from 2010 to 2018 were collected. These data include typhoon trajectory, descriptive text based on social media and pictures. This data set aims to provide typhoon monitoring information from the perspective of public observation, so as to make up for the shortcomings of traditional monitoring methods, so as to provide important data support for timely and efficient disaster reduction services.
