Characteristics of the Gut Microbiota in Pregnant Women with Fetal Growth Restriction

Currently available means of treating fetal growth restriction (FGR) are limited. And it remains unknown how pregnant women who give birth to FGR fetus differ in gut microbiota composition from normal pregnant women. We performed a case-control study using high-throughput 16S rDNA gene sequencing. The purpose of the present study was to characterize altered maternal gut microbiota in pregnant women with FGR, and to explore the role of these changes in the development of FGR.
