VPRS 16878 Resident Medical Officers' Paediatric Handbooks

The series consists of Paediatric handbooks published by the Royal Children's Hospital, initially for the Resident Medical Officers but later for a wider audience.The handbooks provide a ready reference to information about paediatric subjects. Contributions have been made by members of the hospital staff. The management of paediatric emergencies and commonly encountered problems are emphasised.The early volumes have no publication dates, but from 1975 each section within the handbook is marked with the year of revision. From 1989 the name changed from Residents Handbook to Paediatric Handbook and was published in paperback for a wider audience, research is required to determine the audience given access to these handbooks.There are a number of Paediatric handbooks that are missing and these include:- Paediatric Handbook 1966 - 1967- Paediatric Handbook 1971 - 1974- Paediatric Handbook 1977 - 1981- Paediatric Handbook 1984 - 1988- Paediatric Handbook 1990 - 1991- Paediatric Handbook 1993 - 1994- Paediatric Handbook 1996 - 1997- Paediatric Handbook 2001 - 2002It is unknown if there were previous or subsequent handbooks to this series.Prior to transfer to Public Record Office Victoria, the records in this series were maintained as part of the Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) Archives. They were part of RCH accession number 2006/022.
