There is increasing evidence that transcriptome assemblers fail to assemble all existent sequences as their algorithms produce biases in the reported contigs. Previously reported reads from our group and belonging to the venom gland transcriptome from the Colombian spider Phamphobeteus verdolaga were re assembled with three algorithms: Trinity, SPAdes and Soapdenovo. This re assembly and a subsequent merge of the three assemblies was carried in order to obtain a higher number of contigs and a higher number of annotated sequences so, a better prediction of peptides with probable activities such as antimicrobial, antinociception, anti cancerous, insecticidal among others, could be obtained.
