In this study, whole-exome sequencing analysis of 25 Korean gastric adenocarcinoma patient samples showed that the gene encoding PWWP2B protein was one of the most frequently mutated genes. Through biochemical and cell biological approaches, we found for the first time that PWWP2B is implicated in DNA double-strand break repair by promoting DNA end-resection.
