GIS Mapping and Gap Analysis of Existing Research Projects for the Consortium-level Project H2O
收藏资源简介:
Research and monitoring projects that are related to water quality/quantity in Volusia County, FL have been georeferenced and made into an inventory. We obtained relevant GIS layers from the Volusia County GIS clearing house, identified/classified/met partners to obtain relevant information, further digitized and created GIS maps and database when necessary, and had a half-day workshop meeting (Fig. 1) to distribute and disseminate outcomes. The final products include on-line Google Earth maps and other handout materials (Appendices) that compiled and classified waterways within the county as well as the locations/entities/activities of water quality-related projects. This project supports the original mission of the fund: support student-faculty study of natural and man-made threats to the people and communities of Central Florida that directly inform practice. This project (1) involved one graduate student (MS from B-CU, current Ph.D. program at FAU) and three B-CU undergraduate students who have been working as GIS assistants of the PI; (2) the final outputs are being used to help identify potential sources of nonpoint pollution and potential new monitoring sites.
