Two high altitude sites in Summit and Lake Counties (SSTl14 and SLK372)
were examined for their pollen content in connection with archaeological
mitigation. These sites were sampled stratigraphically in an effort to
define paleoenvironmental changes in this area. Unfortunately, the soil
deposition was relatively shallow at both sites, thus compacting the
relatively long time sequences and yielding few pollen samples. The pollen
samples were removed from defined natural stratigraphic units by the
archaeologist following excavation of the site.
