We have performed a population genetics study of Rhopalosiphum padi, a harmful pest of cereals in Europe and a main vector of the barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV). Individual R. padi were collected using the Rothamsted Insect Survey's (RIS) suction-trap network at several sites across England between 2004 and 2016 as part of the RIS long-term nationwide surveillance. The genome assembly of R. padi was first improved to use it as reference in the analyses of population structure. This study contains the reads from a MinION sequencing run, from a pool of 4 colony individuals, used in the assembly.
