Convention industry visitor spending in Europe 2019-2027, by type

In the European convention and event industry, domestic visitor spending dropped from 72 billion euros in 2019 to around 15 billion euros in 2020 due to the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Meanwhile, international visitor spending added up to three billion euros in 2020, declining from 19 billion euros in 2019. As forecast, total visitor spending is expected to remain the same in 2021 over the previous year but steadily grow in subsequent years. Domestic spending alone is predicted to reach 81 billion euros by 2027.
