Grain-Scale Origins of Transient Friction in Clayey and Non-Clayey Granular Materials

This repository contains the rheology experimental data presented in the manuscript, "Grain-Scale Origins of Transient Friction in Clayey and Non-Clayey Granular Materials " The data are presented in five subfolders: velocity-stepping experiments data for silica powder: <silica_powder_vs> slide-hold-slide experiments data for silica powder: <silica_powder_shs> velocity-stepping and slide-hold-slide experiments data for kaoline clay: <Kaoline_clay> velocity-stepping and slide-hold-slide experiments data for Tyee FM sample: <Tyee_FM> acoustic emmision data: <AE> Most columns of data in the experiments' ".txt" files are self-explanatory (time, shear stress, normal stress, rotational speed, gap). The variable "gap" refers to the thickness of the shear zone in the loading geometry.
