Employee medical insurance participant distribution in China 2023, by category

In 2023, among the 371 million participants of the Chinese employee basic medical insurance program, around two-thirds were company employees. Civil servants and public sector workers made up around 18 percent of insurance participants, while the rest were freelancers and people working flexibly.
