In addition to the current 3D models of the buildings of the city of Zurich, this dataset also includes those that are expected to be realised in the next 3 years and could possibly be produced in the medium term. It is a combination of the two original datasets & #x27;3D roof model LoD2 ' and & #x27.3D block model LoD1 & #x27; it was enriched with buildings from architectural competitions, design plans and urban planning studies. Part of this record is therefore: — Buildings that create “real” status in the official survey, quot; or quot; have — Buildings from closed architectural competitions of public buildings conducted by the Office of Buildings of the City of Zurich or the High Building Office of the Canton of Zurich — Buildings from public and private design plans that have been approved by the city council or are already legally binding (the 3D models show a possible development according to the regulations of the respective design plan). — Buildings from published urban planning studies (e.g. guiding principles) (the 3D models show a possible structural development). Thus, it is a possible inventory in the medium-term future (including planned buildings and buildings from architectural competitions, design plans and urban planning studies). In order to achieve a better comprehensibility of the record, some attributes have been renamed, enriched or removed compared to the original records. The floor plan and facade of the existing 3D models are based on the building floor plans of the official survey. The roof structures have been photogrammetrically determined on the basis of aerial images. Newer buildings or buildings of the short-term and medium-term future, of which no detailed 3D roof models are available, are simplified as block models. **Purpose**: A 3D city model provides the basis for the following important areas of application: — Noise cadastre — Visibility analyses — Shadow calculations — Visualisations of major construction and infrastructure projects — Urban planning — Urban planning considerations — Driving simulators — Operational support Blue light organisations — Location marketing — Tourism — Solar energy potential calculations —
