资源简介:
The fill from three hearth samples at the Pinnacles site (39PN9) in the South Dakota
Badlands National Park were processed for both pollen and macrofloral analyses. The floated light
fractions from two additional hearth samples and two cultural levels exposed in vertical profiles also
were examined for macrofloral remains. Samples were obtained from two different areas of the
site that represent two different occupations. Area 932 yielded a corrected date of 379 B.C. and
represents a Late Archaic occupation of the area. Area 931 is interpreted as an Initial Middle
Missouri occupation with a calibrated date of A.D. 891. Pollen and macrofloral analyses of samples
from each of these areas will provide information concerning the spectrum of plant foods available
to and utilized by the various occupants of this site.
