Data sets related to a publication "Effect of snow cover and soil temperature on tree and forest floor processes: a case study in mature boreal forest"

We prevented snow reaching the forest floor for two winters in mature boreal forest at SMEAR II station in Hyytiälä (Southern Finlan) and studied how that affects tree and forest floor processes. The studied species were Scots pine, Norway spruce, silver birch, and a dwarf shrub bilberry. This data publication includes datasets from control site with normal snow cover and site with snow exclusion. The data sets are continuous soil temperature measurements in humus layer and mineral topsoil, monthly chamber measurements of forest floor respiration, continuous spring-time measurements of sap pressure in birch, fine root growth data for pine, and comprehensive growth data for bilberry (including root biomass growth, shoot elongation growth, diameter growth and leaf characteristics).
