The terrain model with a ground resolution of 0.4 x 0.4 m was derived from the data of the laser scan flight in spring 2015. More precisely: the terrain model is an interpolation of the laser beams that were not reflected by vegetation (leaves, branches, trunks), but from the ground. The terrain model represents the terrain surface as if the vegetation layer was not present. In the calculation with the tree canopy height model, which is also derived from laser scanning data, tree heights can be derived for each individual tree. This is an extremely valuable information for assessing forest dynamics compared to several time intervals. Thanks to its high soil resolution, it is also possible to identify terrain structures that are not or hardly recognizable in vegetation-covered terrain, e.g. former paths, drainage trenches, Köhler places, ground walls, etc.
