Hazardous microorganisms like bloom forming algaes and fungal plant pathogens are severe threat to human health, environmental protection, and economic growth. Biological control of these organisms is a promising way to supersede currently used toxic chemicals. Here, a biocontrol bacterium Streptomyces malaysiensis F913 was isolated from the soil of a eutrophic pond. Antagonistic activity assay of strain F913 indicated that it can inhibit bloom forming cyanobacteria and plant pathogenic fungi, further natural product profiling isolated some known secondary metabolites like nigericin and elaiophylin which partially explained its antimicrobial activity.
