In October 2024, a novel circulating Tembusu virus (TMUV) strain (designated AHWH) was isolated and characterized from an out-of-season breeding goose with pancreatic necrosis from Anhui province of China. The complete coding sequence of this strain was sequenced by next-generation sequencing. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that the AHWH isolate shared the highest nucleotide identity with goose-derived TMUV/Goose/CHN/2022/HQ-22 (ORF, 99.35%), mosquito-derived YN2020 (ORF, 99.14%), chicken-derived CTLN (ORF, 99.13%), duck-derived DK/TH/CU-56 (E, 98.1%), respectively, and classified into TMUV Cluster 3.2.
