Gut Microbiota, Metabolism, and Inflammation in Stroke

This study compares the gut bacteria, immune signals, and blood metabolites in patients with mild/moderate ischemic stroke (MS) and severe ischemic stroke (SS). We found that SS patients show more inflammation and insulin resistance due to changes in gut bacteria, metabolites, and immune responses. Although the body tries to reduce inflammation, it isn't enough to fully control it. By linking inflammation to these factors, our research highlights new connections between the gut and brain, potentially leading to affordable treatments for severe stroke cases.
