The International Comprehensive Ocean-Atmosphere Data Set (ICOADS) is the worlds most comprehensive and publicly accessible archive of surface marine meteorological and oceanographic observations, spanning from the 17th century (1662) to the present. It integrates data from ships, buoys, coastal stations, and autonomous platforms, encompassing individual reports of sea surface and air temperatures, winds, pressure, humidity, cloudiness, and related oceanographic variables. ICOADS underpins global climate monitoring, reanalyses, and marine-atmosphere research, and includes both individual observations and gridded monthly at 1° (since 1960) resolution. This subset covers the time range from 1960 to 2014, with a spatial resolution of 1°×1°. Each variable includes ten monthly statistics (median, mean, count, standard deviation estimate, mean day-of-month, fraction in daylight, mean location) computed on enhanced 1°×1° grids spanning 1960 to 2014.
