Distributed fibre optic sensing for production optimization - labelled dataset from experimental campaign

The dataset consists of distributed acoustic sensing data from experimentally simulated well inflow scenarios, produced in SINTEF's Multiphase Flow Laboratory (Tiller, Norway) in 2022 as a part of the project DIFI-PRO, managed by NORCE Norwegian Research Centre between 2020 and 2025. Apart from several axial fibre optic cables, the test set-up was heavily instrumented to ensure full labelling of the data sets, including acoustic reference probes, and scientific flow loop instrumentation. Different well inflow scenarios were simulated in the test section, with a focus on water-break, but with gas-break as positive control. Steady-state flow rate tests were run at different multiphase (air, oil, water) flow conditions: 1) Varying background flow conditions (high/low simulating heel/toe); and 2) Varying inflow conditions (air, oil, water) with different inflow water cuts in oil/water flows, with only oil as background flow. Dynamic inflow water break tests at constant background flow with: 1) Constant volume inflow rates; 2) Constant mass inflow rates; 3) Constant annular pressures; 4) Rapid step-changes in water cut (0-50%); and 5) Varying water cut ramp-up gradients (0-50%).
