Strategic noise maps and noise warning maps

Noise warning maps are used in municipal and other land use plans. Noise warning maps after the T-1442 are a forecast of future noise levels from traffic on European, national and county roads. The noise zones are divided into a red and yellow zone showing areas where noise-sensitive buildings should be avoided. These calculations are made approximately every 4 years and will cover all national and county roads throughout Norway Strategic noise maps are used in reporting, action plans and assessments. The strategic noise maps show the noise situation from road traffic at the turn of the year 2016/2017 for the largest urban areas in the country and also along the national and county roads where it passes more than 8200 vehicles per day. This noise mapping is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Pollution Control Regulations and is part of a larger survey in Europe. The urban areas included in the survey are: • Oslo, with neighbouring municipalities Asker, Bærum, Skedsmo, Lørenskog and Rælingen The mountains • Stavanger, with neighbouring municipalities Sandnes, Randaberg and Sola Trondheim Fredrikstad and Sarpsborg The data set is not updated, but is re-manufactured every 5 years.
