Decoupling of mRNA and protein expression in aging brains reveals the age-dependent adaptation of specific gene subsets

To investigate the connection between changes of mRNA and protein expression in the brain during aging, we compared the transcriptome and proteome of the mouse cortex. We profiled gene expression in the mouse cortex using data obtained from RNA-seq of three individuals at 6-months old and three individuals at 24-months old.
