Supporting materials for Slawson et al. 2025 "Paleosol-based reconstruction indicates decoupling of mean annual precipitation and precipitation intensity during the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum in the Uinta Basin, Utah." Figure S1. Paleosol-based composite measured section from Nine Mile Canyon. The pedotypes are listed to the right of the associated paleosols.   Figure S2. Detailed map showing the locations of where the two measured sections were collected. The first measured section was collected to focus on channel sandstones from within the black square. The second measured section (shown in Figure S1) was collected by following sandstone marker beds along the section of Nine Mile Canyon Road marked with a black line. This measured section focused on floodplain deposits and paleosols.  Figure S3. Age model developed from magnetostratigraphy, biostratigraphy, and absolute age dates in the Wasatch and Green River Formations. a) Measured section collected by Piret Plink-Bjorklund and students with a focus on channel sandstones; b) Magnetic polarity results from collected samples and correlation to the geomagnetic polarity time scale from Gradstein et al., 2012.  Table S1. Raw paleomagnetic data used in Figure S3 including sample number, stratigraphic height, declination, inclination, mean angular deviation (MAD), and a data quality rating based on the MAD. Alpha indicates a well-defined directional cluster, beta a less well-defined cluster but still acceptable, and GC stands for great circle data that had no stable endpoint. Table S2. d13C/12C of the dispersed organic carbon in floodplain deposits. The unit of  measurement is per mille relative to the VPBD standard. Table S3. Major elemental oxide data for the paleosol samples listed by stratigraphic height (m).   Table S4. Mass balance calculations and mean annual precipitation (MAP) estimates for the collected paleosol samples. MAP estimates using the CIA-K, RF-MAP 2.0, and PPM1.0 climofunctions are included.   Table S5. Proxy data, Köppen-Geiger climate type, and references used for constructing Figure 7.
