Here, I present the whole genome of a virulent M. xanthus phage Mx4, reared at lab-conditions that favor a purely lytic life-cycle. The ~57-kb genome contains 97 protein-coding, and no RNA-coding genes. According to a head-neck-tail protein classification Mx4 belongs to the Mu-like Myoviridae of Type1 (Cluster 8).
