Number of direct and intermediary mortgage sales in the UK 2014-2023

In 2023, only a small percentage of mortgage sales in the UK were sold directly, while the vast majority were sold through an intermediary. From the total 888,000 mortgage products sold that year, intermediary sales made up close to 747,000. Following the aggressive mortgage interest hikes in 2022, intermediary sales have fallen at a slower pace than direct sales.
