Bacillus velezensis ML61 was isolated from the rhizosphere soil of bok choy (Brassica rapa var. chinensis). Since Bacillus velezensis species has been well-known as biocontrol agent and plant growth-promoting bacteria, we sequenced the genome of this strain to gain insight into its molecular basis of antimicrobial activity and to understand the unique characteristics of this strain when compared to others.
