The Corine Land Cover product on Italy at the fourth thematic level was created on the basis of the classification defined by the Ministry of the Environment. The Ministry carried out in 2012 a coverage at the fourth thematic level for natural and semi-natural areas, based on LandsatTM data for 2010. During the production of the CLC2012 it was decided to update that data on the basis of the infrastructure provided by the CLC2012 project. The minimum cartographed unit is 20 hectares.
