Desulfovibrio is a bacterial genus of the group of sulfate reducing bacteria (SRB). These bacteria produce hydrogen sulfide as the product of metabolism. This acid is toxic and causes serious problems in the oil industry. The strain of this work was isolated from a slop tank from a oil platform of the Bacia de Campos, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This work aims at the sequencing and assembly of the first genome of the species Desulfovibrio indonesiensis, which makes up this important group of bacteria.
