The map covers the overall backdrop of carbon-rich soils in Lower Saxony based on the BK50. It provides a nationwide overview of the distribution and width of moor soils and other carbon-rich soils. It describes the peat power of the soil types Hoch- und Niedermoor, Moorgley, Organomarsch with low bog cover, soils with flat overlaid peats, as well as industrially stowed high bogs.
