Microbial community composition in samples derived from edible plant tissues—spinach leaves, tomato fruits, and beet roots—was determined by amplicon sequencing of bacterial and fungal genetic markers. The bacterial community structure was assessed by sequencing the V3–V4 hypervariable regions of the bacterial 16S rRNA gene.
