Kilometres of main track by type, short rails or long-gauge rails (LGS).Thanks to technical progress in manufacturing and experience gained in track laying, the length of rails became longer and longer.By electric butt splitting, rails of greater length are manufactured (initially 54 m and later the so-called long-gauge rails (LGS) with a length of up to 300 m).
