资源简介:
These data were collected as part of a study of the relationship between body condition, as measured from length and mass of an animal, body composition, as measured by the mass of different tissues within an animal, and growth in amphibians. There were two main questions of this study: 1) which of some common body condition indices were most effective at describing the amount of fat or lean mass of a several amphibians and 2) whether body condition was related to the potential for growth in one amphibian species. The QMR data is output from quantitative magnetic resonance scans of three species of amphibians (Rana luteiventris, Pseudacris sierra, *and *Ambystoma macrodactylum) to determine body composition, as represented by amounts of fat and lean mass in an individual at the time of scanning. These outputs were then compared to traditional condition indices developed from length and mass measurements. The CMR data is capture-mark-recapture information from a population of individually marked Rana luteiventris, which covered multiple years and was used to study the effects of body condition on individual growth.Description: Outputs from quantitative magnetic resonance scans of three species of amphibians (Rana luteiventris, Pseudacris sierra, *and *Ambystoma macrodactylum) captured in western Montana, USA. Animals were scanned using a body composition analyzer (EchoMRI-500, www.echomri.com(opens in new window)).VariablesRecNumber: Record number, sequential for the dayLabel: User-input label of the subject. OIL labels indicate canola oil standards used for verification of machine operation.Fat: The amount of fat (g) in the animal as detected by quantitative magnetic resonanceLean: The amount of lean mass (g) in the animal as detected by quantitative magnetic resonance. Lean mass includes muscle, hair, and bone.FreeWater: The amount of free water (g) in the animal as detected by quantitative magnetic resonance. Free water includes both water on the skin and in the bladderTotalWater: The amount of total water (g) in the animal as detected by quantitative magnetic resonance. Total water includes free water plus all water in body tissues.TimeDateDura: Time, date, and duration (milliseconds) of the scan.Accumulation: The number of individual scans making up this reading. Users may allow the machine to average multiple QMR scans to a single reading.Weight: Mass of the animal in g as input by the user. Animals in this study were weighed on a calibrated bench scale before being introduced to the machine.Comments: User-input commentsPIT: User-input passive integrated transponder code, for those animals which were tagged as part of the mark-recapture study.SEX: Sex of the animal, as determined by nuptial pad presence (R. luteiventris), vocal sac presence (R. sierra), or cloaca and tail shape (A. macrodactylum).SVL: Snout-vent length of the animal, as measured with a ruler immediately before being introduced to the machine.SPECIES: Species of the individual. Species codes RALU = Rana luteiventris, AMMAC = Ambystoma macrodactylum, PSRE = Pseudacris sierra (P. regillabeing an outdated misnomer)SITE: Site of capture of the individual. JONES = Jones Pond, Lubrecht Forest, MT 46.90°N; -113.44°W. KRAMIS = Kramis Pond, Bitterroot National Forest, MT 46.07°N; -114.25°W. LOSTHORSE = Lost Horse Marsh, Bitterroot National Forest, MT 46.10N°; -114.27°W.
