Social Systems, in Galveston Testbed: Multi-Hazard Socio-Physical Datasets for Coastal Community Resilience Assessment

Social-systems inputs for Galveston Island used in the companion paper by Amini et al. (2025). The primary dataset is a tract-level social vulnerability table containing demographic shares (race/ethnicity, age, housing tenure), household income, educational attainment, disability prevalence, and derived vulnerability indices for each Census tract on the island. A companion table provides U.S. national mean values for the same variables, used as a reference distribution when computing relative vulnerability scores. Census tract polygons for Galveston Island (U.S. Census Bureau TIGER/Line, Galveston County FIPS 48167) are included as the geographic aggregation unit. These data support the assignment of social vulnerability attributes to individual households through the Housing Unit Allocation method, serve as input to the population dislocation model and the Household-level Housing Sequential Recovery (HHSR) model, define the tract-level units for the multi-objective mitigation optimization, and enable equity-based post-processing analyses such as Theil's T index and Between-Zone Inequality metrics. All geometries are in WGS 1984 (EPSG:4326).
