资源简介:
The Fire Product: SCAR-B Automated Biomass Burining Algorithm (ABBA)
Fire Product was part of the International Geosphere-Biosphere
Programme Data and Information System (IGBP-DIS) Regional Satellite
Fire Data Compilation CD-ROM.
The 1995 Smoke Cloud and Radiation Experiment in Brazil (SCAR-B) was
an international collaborative field program to study the radiative
and climate forcing issues associated with aerosols produced by
biomass burning activities. In support of SCAR-B, the Cooperative
Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) at the
University of Wisconsin-Madison produced diurnal GOES-8 derived fire
products in near-real-time with an initial version of the GOES-8
Automated Biomass Burning Algorithm (ABBA)
(Version 1.0) for each day of the field program (15 August-15
September 1995). Diurnal fire products were produced at 1145, 1445,
1745, and 2045 UTC coinciding with peak burning hours. The SCAR-B
GOES-8 diurnal data set has been reprocessed with an updated version
of the GOES-8 ABBA (Version 4.5), and data included here come out of
this reprocessing. The SCAR-B GOES-8 ABBA fire product study region
extends from 75W to 35W and from 0S to 40S.
The data set consists of ASCII files and corresponding GIF files.
Each ASCII file consists of information for active fires identified in
GOES-8 multispectral imagery by the GOES-8 Automated Biomass Burning
Algorithm at a specific time period. Information for a given fire
pixel includes fire pixel location (longitude/latitude); estimated
fire size (km2) and average fire temperature (K); fire pixel ecosystem
type; and fire pixel flag (ranging from 0 to 2). The ecosystem type is
based on the Olson World Ecosystems database (Version 1.4D, Olson,
1992). GIF files are graphical depictions of the fire product
contained in the ASCII files. Each GIF file displays the diurnal
GOES-8 ABBA fire product for the study region on a given date. The
display consists of four panels showing the locations of GOES-8 ABBA
derived fire pixels on a mercator projection at four time periods
(1145, 1445, 1745 and 2045 UTC).
