The dataset includes information about the bacterial collections able to degrade petroleum hydrocarbons (PHCs) that has been generated from the rhizosphere of sunflower plants grown in a polluted soil and in commercial soil. Data include the taxonomical identification by partial 16S rRNA gene sequencing, information about their ability to grow on different PHCs and information about their plant growth promoting (PGP) abilities, evaluated through in vitro assays.
