We conducted an avifauna
survey of Sugarcreek Metropark (Dayton, Ohio area) in 2010, matching an identical survey conducted
in 1978. We examined changes in
avifauna species richness and composition and compared local changes to
statewide trends. Species richness
declined 19%. This decline was
most pronounced for migratory species, which declined 28%.
