Atlantic Croaker Hypoxia Tolerance

This study was examining the influence of oil exposure on Atlantic croaker hypoxia tolerance. Wild caught live croaker were purchased and placed into one of 3 treatment groups; control, low oil dose (1% MASS HEWAF), or high oil dose (2% MASS HEWAF). Croaker were then placed into an intermittent flow respirometer where aerobic scope in normoxic conditions and loss of equilibrium in hypoxic conditions were measured. Both oil doses showed a reduction in aerobic scope compared to the control group, however there was no significant difference in pcrit or time to loss of equilibrium between the groups.
