FAIRE was utilized to assess chromatin structure at GR binding locations in A1-2 cells. Cells were treated for 1 hour with ethanol (absence of ligand) and FAIRE analysis performed on DNA. GR binding locations demonstrate a signicant FAIRE enrichment in the absence of activating ligand suggesting an open chromatin structure prior to receptor binding.
