Microsatellite genotype dataset of Plathymenia reticulata from native populations and seed lots in Brazil

This dataset contains multilocus microsatellite (SSR) genotype data for Plathymenia reticulata Benth., a tropical tree species native to the Atlantic Forest and Cerrado biomes of Brazil. The dataset comprises individuals sampled from eight native populations and six seed lots used in ecological restoration programs. Genotypes are reported as allele sizes (base pairs, bp) for each microsatellite locus. Each row corresponds to a single individual, and each locus is represented by two columns corresponding to the two alleles. These data were generated to evaluate the genetic diversity captured in seed lots relative to native populations. The dataset was used to estimate genetic diversity, observed and expected heterozygosity, allelic richness, inbreeding coefficient, genetic structure, relatedness, and recent bottlenecks. It supports the findings reported in the manuscript "Alleles, Seeds and Forests: Genetic Diversity of Seed Lots and Native Populations of a Tropical Tree in Support of Ecosystem Restoration Efforts." These data provide an important resource for conservation genetics and ecological restoration by documenting the genetic diversity represented in native populations and seed lots of Plathymenia reticulata. The dataset supports the development of evidence-based seed collection strategies aimed at maximizing genetic diversity, minimizing relatedness among seedlings, and improving the long-term resilience and adaptive potential of restored tropical forest populations.
