Early school leavers versus school leavers with a starting qualification and those remaining in education (final grades) (from 01-10-2004)

This file includes all persons enrolled in funded secondary education (vo), secondary vocational education (mbo) or secondary general adult education (vavo) on 1 October of a school year. Information is available about the training they are currently undergoing and about their educational position a year later: from education without initial qualification, by in education or from education with initial qualification. A starting qualification is a havo or vwo diploma or a diploma at least MBO level 2. People leaving education without a starting qualification are called early school leavers (vsv and #039;ers). The final file VSV2012TABV3 and the provisional stock VSV2013TABV1 are the last files created by the old method. The final files VSV2012TABV4 and VSV2013TABV2 and all subsequent files were created using the new method. In the old method, persons who had enrolment in practical education, English Stream, International Baccalaureate or (secondary) special education on 1 October of the destination year were not excluded from the population. — Of the persons enrolled in different types of education, the MBO enrolment has been given priority over those in the vo and vo registration above those in the vavo. — Registers about the vavo are only available from school year 2005/& #039;06. The 2004 file therefore consists only of vo- and mbo-students. — In school year 2004/'05 information on pupils in the VBO departments of the Agricultural Training Centres is missing. As a result, the number of secondary education pupils in the agricultural sector is lower than in the following school years. — From school year 2005/'06 the mbo files are fully filled. In the 2004/&05 file, about 9 % of the entries are missing. ### Population All persons who are registered on 1 October in the government funded vo, mbo or vavo and who on 1 October of both the relevant school year (basic year) and of the school year thereafter (destination year) are registered in the municipal population register. Persons who have enrolment in practical education, English Stream, International Baccalaureate, (secondary) special education or adult education on 1 October of the basic year or destination year are excluded from the population*. Persons who have an exemption from compulsory schooling on 1 October of the destination year are also not part of the population. * Except if they also have enrolment in another type of education funded by the government (in the base year: VO, mbo or vavo; in the destination year: VO, mbo, vavo or higher education) or if they have a starting qualification on 1 October of the basic year. —For clarification: file VSV2014TABV1 covers persons who are registered on 1 October 2014 (school year 2014/'15) and who on 1 October 2015 (school year 2015/& #039;16) are considered as a passer-through or (previous) school leaver.
