Environmental regulation- water extraction areas

A water extraction area is the groundwater protection zone where the groundwater can be at a pumping well for the public drinking water supply within one year. The province and its partners aim to protect groundwater as a source of drinking water supply. This file was adopted on 15 November 2023 by the Provincial States and entered into force on 1 January 2024 under the Environmental Law.
