This metadata entry refers to measurements of oceanic dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO), dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP) and dimethylsulfide (DMS) by Sue Turner; methane (CH4) by Ian Joint; carbon dioxide (CO2) by Peter Williams; and ammonium (NH4) by Micheal Whitehouse during the James Clark Ross 2 (JCR2) research cruise in the Bellinghausen sea, Southern Ocean as part of Biogeochemical Ocean Flux Study (BOFS). The cruise began on 28th October 1992 and ended on 17th December 1992 with a spatial coverage of +27 S to +70S latitude and +54W to +86W longitude. The data consists of: - 58 measurements of concentration of dimethylsulphoxide (DMSO) per unit volume of the water column by enzyme digestion, purging, cryogenic trapping and gas chromatography. - 79 measurements of concentration of dimethylsulphoniopropionate (DMSP) per unit volume of water column by millipore prefiltration and gas chromatography. - 58 measurements of concentration of dimethylsulfide (DMS) per unit volume of the water column by Millipore prefiltration, purging, cryogenic trapping and gas chromatography. - 90 measurements of concentrations of methane (CH4) per unit volume of the water column (dissolved plus reactive particulate phase) by gas chromatography. - 89 measurements of saturation of methane (CH4) in the water column (dissolved phase) by computation from concentration. - 89 measurements of concentration of carbon (total inorganic) (TCO2) per unit volume of the water column (dissolved plus reactive phase) by coulometry. - 202 measurements of concentration of ammonium (NH4) per unit volume of the water column (dissolved plus reactive particulate phase) by colormetric autoanalysis.
