Individual neuron tracing and sholl analysis imagej macros

Two separate ImageJ macros used to analyze dendritic growth in primary neuron-glia cultures. The first macro isolates individual neurons that have 1) an associated nucleus 2) are not touching other neurons and 3) are not located along the image edge, then provides a neuron trace/skeletonization. The second macro then takes the neuron trace and performs subsequent sholl analysis, setting concentric rings at a set distance from the soma and providing measurements on the number of times dendrites cross the rings.
