Digital Archive from an Archaeological Watching Brief and Strip, Map and Sample at The Mid Somerset Show Ground, Cannards Grave Road, Shepton Mallet, February to June 2021

This collection consists of site images and records, GIS data, and spreadsheet data from an archaeological strip, map and sample and watching brief at the development of a new Mid Somerset Showground on land at Cannard's Grave Road, Shepton Mallet, Somerset. The works were conducted by Archaeology England Ltd. between February and June 2021. The layers that were excavated produced generally 19th century finds, likely relating to deep ploughing. A plough reduced earthwork, corresponding with the location of a ring ditch identified during geophysical survey, was identified during excavation, and is thought to represent a Bronze Age barrow.
