Tuscany Region - Protected Natural Areas of Local Interest (ANPIL)

Regional Law 49/1995 \"Rules on parks, nature reserves and protected natural areas of local interest\" provided for Protected Natural Areas of Local Interest (P.A.N.P.I.L.) as a particular type of protected area \"inserted in intensely man-made territorial areas, which require conservation, restoration or reconstitution of the original environmental characteristics and which may be the subject of eco-friendly development projects\".Article 6(3) of Regional Law 49/95, now repealed, provided that the functions relating to the management of natural areas of local interest were exercised by individual or associated municipalities or mountain communities; these bodies then adopted the acts within their remit aimed at establishing the ANPIL, identifying the perimeters and possibly regulating the activities; all the documentation produced (deeds adopted and maps of the perimeter of the areas) was sent to the competent regional sector for the obligations within its competence.Regional Law No 30 of 19 March 2015 \"Rules for the conservation and enhancement of the regional natural and environmental heritage.....\" repealed Regional Law No 49/1995 and maintained only the types of protected areas provided for by national legislation (parks and reserves), providing that the ANPIL are subject to verification to fall, if necessary, into the categories of protected areas provided for by the law itself.
