Depth of the base of the Miocene in the duck beak

The mapped area describes in the base of the burdigalium (before about 20.5 Ma), a stage near the base of the Miocene. The base surface reaches the largest sink in the area of the central trench with depths of more than 1 700 m. In general, the horizon traces a relatively flat relief. A few diapires (e.g. Bruni) penetrates the horizon, whereas only small movements in the lower Miocene can be detected along most salt structures.
